Craigies Farm - A Day Out of Edinburgh

If you’re anything like me, you’ll be craving getting out of the city quite often (especially during peak season!) Whilst I absolutely love Edinburgh, every now and then i’m desperate to get out and do something wholesome to reconnect me back with nature cue Craigies Farm

Last year during Halloween season I really wanted to carve my own pumpkin and was surprised to see Craigies so close to home (not far from the Edinburgh Airport) I bought a PYO (Pick your own) ticket for Billy and I and we went on a rainy day to pick our very own pumpkins.

This is such a wholesome thing to do and we saw lots of parents with their kids out as well, there’s a wee farm with goats and a cafe with play equipment for the kids too. Keep in mind at Halloween pumpkin picking sells out! So make sure you buy your PYO ticket ahead of time.

I absolutely loved our experience at Craigies so simply had to come back during Summer to go berry picking.

The same as at Halloween we bought PYO tickets for £5 each, and that price comes off whatever you pick at the end. We picked around £8 worth of strawberries and raspberries. Keep in mind if you don’t make up the full £10 you don’t get that refunded, but honestly it was fine with us! We barely ate all we picked that day anyway 😂
You could also collect eggs (we couldn’t find any though) pick brambles, currents, green beans and sunflowers so there’s plenty around to grab.

The farm shop is an excellent place to pick up any extra fruit and veggies you couldn’t find, as well as home made goods like balsamic vinegars, gins, jams etc.

All in all I’d highly recommend checking these guys out for your next wholesome adventure. Take a look at their website here to see what fruit and vege they have on offer.
